Debido a los cambios de temperatura, la llegada del invierno e incluso el uso del aire acondicionado o la calefacción, nos exponemos a un posible resfriado. Para prevenirlo, es importante llevar una dieta sana y equilibrada, realizar ejercicio físico para mantenernos en forma, así como evitar los cambios bruscos de temperatura y las corrientes de aire. No existe una cura para el resfriado común. Pero ¿qué pasa con los remedios que aseguran hacerte sentir mejor más rápido? Averigua cuales son efectivos y cuales no.
Nada puede curar un resfriado. Pero algunos remedios pueden ayudar a aliviar sus síntomas y evitar que te sientas tan mal.
Remedios para el resfriado que funcionan
Si te resfrías, el resfriado probablemente durará una o dos semanas. Eso no significa que debas sentirte abatida.
Mantente hidratada. El agua, los zumos, una sopa o el agua tibia con limón y miel ayudan a bajar la congestión y previenen la deshidratación. Evita el alcohol, el café y los refrescos con cafeína, que pueden empeorar la deshidratación.
Descansa. Tu cuerpo necesita descansar para curarse.
Alivia el dolor de garganta. Una gárgara de agua salada puede aliviar temporalmente una garganta dolorida o irritada. También puedes probar con trocitos de hielo, atomizadores para el dolor de garganta, pastillas o caramelos duros. Ten precaución cuando les des pastillas o caramelos duros a los niños porque se pueden atragantar. No les des pastillas ni caramelos duros a los niños menores de 6 años.

En los bebés, los expertos recomiendan aplicar varias gotas de solución salina en una fosa nasal y luego succionar suavemente esa fosa nasal con una pera o jeringa de goma. Los atomizadores nasales con solución salina se pueden usar en los niños mayores.
Alivia el dolor. Los adultos pueden tomar acetaminofén , ibuprofeno o aspirina. Debes consultar a tu médico de cabecera o farmacéutico antes de tomar ningún medicamento.

Toma miel. La miel puede ayudar a la tos en adultos y niños mayores de un año. Pruébala con leche caliente.
Humedece el aire. Un vaporizador o un humidificador de vapor frío pueden agregar humedad a tu hogar, lo que podría ayudar a bajar la congestión. Cambia el agua a diario, y limpia el aparato según las instrucciones del fabricante.
Los medicamentos para el resfriado y la tos de venta libre ( descongestionantes, antihistamínicos y analgésicos…) pueden ofrecer algún alivio de los síntomas. Sin embargo, no evitarán un resfriado ni reducirán su duración, y la mayoría de ellos tienen algunos efectos secundarios.
Toma los medicamentos solo según se te indique, ya que algunos contra el resfriado contienen múltiples ingredientes, como un descongestionante más un analgésico, por eso, lee las etiquetas de los medicamentos contra el resfriado que tomas para asegurarte de no consumir una cantidad excesiva de ningún medicamento.
Algunos remedios caseros
Si finalmente te contagias, para conseguir aliviar los síntomas y tener una pronta recuperación, hay una serie de remedios naturales para la tos, el dolor de garganta, la gripe y contra los catarros, todas ellas inofensivas, naturales y sin ninguna receta.
Miel y limón

Jengibre

Vaporizaciones de eucalipto

El eucalipto contiene aceites esenciales como el cineol, los fravonoides y los taninos que proporcionan una acción espectorante, analgésica, antimicrobiana, antiséptica y descongestiva.

Remedios para el resfriado con evidencia contradictoria
