Nada puede curar un resfriado. Pero algunos remedios pueden ayudar a aliviar sus síntomas y evitar que te sientas tan mal.
Remedios para el resfriado que funcionan
Si te resfrías, el resfriado probablemente durará una o dos semanas. Eso no significa que debas sentirte abatida.
Mantente hidratada. El agua, los zumos, una sopa o el agua tibia con limón y miel ayudan a bajar la congestión y previenen la deshidratación. Evita el alcohol, el café y los refrescos con cafeína, que pueden empeorar la deshidratación.
Descansa. Tu cuerpo necesita descansar para curarse.
Alivia el dolor de garganta. Una gárgara de agua salada puede aliviar temporalmente una garganta dolorida o irritada. Humedece el aire. Un vaporizador o un humidificador de vapor frío pueden agregar humedad a tu hogar, lo que podría ayudar a bajar la congestión. Cambia el agua a diario, y limpia el aparato según las instrucciones del fabricante.
Los medicamentos para el resfriado y la tos de venta libre ( descongestionantes, antihistamínicos y analgésicos…) pueden ofrecer algún alivio de los síntomas. Sin embargo, no evitarán un resfriado ni reducirán su duración, y la mayoría de ellos tienen algunos efectos secundarios.
Toma los medicamentos solo según se te indique, ya que algunos contra el resfriado contienen múltiples ingredientes, como un descongestionante más un analgésico, por eso, lee las etiquetas de los medicamentos contra el resfriado que tomas para asegurarte de no consumir una cantidad excesiva de ningún medicamento.
