No more repetitive exercise routines, boring gym sessions and the boredom that sets in every time you have to put on your leggings to go out for a run. Fashionable sports, in addition to using tricks to motivate you to exercise, connect our body in an intense but extremely rewarding way. Disciplines that not only keep us fit and take care of our physical health but also our emotional health.

And after two years of pandemic, 2023 is the year in which we have finally left Covid behind and the conviction that, as important as taking care of our body is doing the same with our mind, mental peace and ability to manage emotions.

For this reason, sports such as yoga, pilates and disciplines such as meditation or KAP will continue to boom this year, offering us tools with which to take care of body, mind and spirit.

Without a doubt, this is a very effective way to stay active, which will also be a plus for not giving up on the goal of getting in shape and taking care of yourself by practicing one of these trendy sports.

One strategy to not give up on the goal of getting in shape is to try a new sport and fitness trends that are made for all types of audiences.

Fitboxing

Although it is a well-known sport, this year it has become a sporting discipline given the number of women who have been encouraged to practice it in recent months.

This sport combines boxing, kickboxing, muay thai and crossfit exercises and its purpose is to train the entire body in a comprehensive manner.

Although at first glance it may seem like an aggressive practice or valid exclusively for people with an optimal physique, the truth is that fitboxing has different modalities and circuits of different intensities that adapt to all audiences.

An intense but extremely rewarding exercise, the results of which are quickly noticeable.

Pilates

It is considered the best sport discipline to control movement, breathing and have a notion of our body that connects us with it. A sport through which we improve physical and mental condition, tone and define and feel at peace with ourselves.

CrossFit

Although CrossFit has been around for a while now and you probably have several acquaintances who practice it, given its success and the number of people who are joining this sporting discipline, we cannot help but include it in this list of Trending Sports.

CrossFit is perfect for all those people who want to escape from boring traditional gym sessions. CrossFit helps the person who practices it get in shape almost in record time thanks to the practice of functional training exercises.

Typically, a session lasts 60 minutes and is usually structured with 10-20 minutes of warm-up, technique and strength, followed by 15-30 minutes of “Workout of the day” where the whole body is exercised, ending with 10-15 minutes of sit-ups and stretching.

Crosscycle

Among the new artistic disciplines that fuse two or more sports, Crosscycle is going to be one of the most practiced. This activity combines the cardiovascular training of indoor cycling with functional strength work. To do this, intervals of bike training are alternated with intervals of functional strength training, all to the rhythm of the most motivating music.

KAP

After the pandemic, many disciplines, such as Yoga, began to experience a highly relevant boom as many people realized the importance of taking care of not only our body, but also our mind and our emotions.

It is therefore not surprising that the KAP (Kundalini Activation Process) is becoming one of the most popular activities in recent months.

KAP is the vital energy that all people are born with and that, over the years, becomes dormant as the messages and lifestyle of modern society take over us. This energy, therefore, deteriorates and remains blocked in the lower part of the spine, or in other words, the first of the chakras. Through guided relaxation in which the teachers who teach it touch certain points, a readjustment of the mind and nervous system occurs.

Although this technique is not valid for the most agnostic, those who have tried it say that KAP is perfect for eliminating stress, releasing energy and that at the end of each session you feel relaxed and calm.

Barre

A fusion of pilates, fitness and ballet, perfect for all those people who want to play sports and stay fit but without doing high-intensity exercises.

Barre is generally done in group classes and is characterized by using the ballet bar, combining classical dance movements with yoga and pilates positions and a large amount of isometric work.

Hyrox

Although Hyrox is not a sport per se but rather a competition, it is becoming an essential event for all those who like sporting events in which they can compete against other participants and make their own mark.

Hyrox combines 8 km of running and 8 types of workouts in an alternating manner. Events are organized throughout the season in which anyone can compete without prior qualification and in which all participants must complete the same route receiving their personal time in order to see their world ranking.

HIIT or 3XHIIT workouts

This high-intensity workout combines strength with cardiovascular exercise and is becoming one of the trendiest workouts.

The session is usually divided into three blocks: the strength part, which is done through suspension exercises, the cardiovascular part with a stationary bicycle alternating intensities, and finally, a boxing workout.

Yoga

In a society that moves so fast, more and more people are suffering from anxiety, stress or insomnia and have seen the need to control their emotions and give their mind a break as a very powerful tool for their physical and, above all, mental health. Hence the success of practices such as yoga and meditation, highly recommended by psychologists, doctors and specialists.

An ancient discipline that has millions of followers around the world and that is getting even the most reluctant people to understand the relationship between body and mind to practice this sport daily, both in specialized centers and at home, taking it as a moment of rest and connection with oneself rather than as an obligatory exercise routine.

Aeroyoga

If you practice yoga, pilates and acrobatics, this sport is designed for you, as it is a fusion of the above. In sessions lasting one and a half hours, authentic pirouettes alternate with rest phases. Its innovation? It is practiced suspended in the air.

TRX

Training, also in suspension, which consists of anchoring the feet to a strap, hanging it from the ceiling or another elevated structure and leaving them suspended in the air, while the rest of the body is in contact with the ground.

This activity allows you to focus the weight and load of the exercise on the desired area of the body. It helps improve balance, flexibility, endurance and coordination. A curious fact about its origin: it was born in the United States Army, but it is adapted for anyone and is increasingly practiced by more professional athletes.

Bokwa Fitness

If you are bored of Zumba, the new challenge is Bokwa Fitness, a combination of African dance and gym exercises with a different musical style, rhythms, steps and movements.

Aquabiking

It is a combination of cycling and swimming. Similar to spinning, but in water up to the chest. Women are the ones who practice it the most because it also helps to combat orange peel skin and cellulite.

Aquabiking is a recent practice among the general public, but high-performance athletes have been practicing it for some time.

Aquapunching

It is an evolution of body combat, also practiced in water to increase resistance.

Elipdoor

It involves using an elliptical bike in a group, under the guidance of an instructor and to the rhythm of music. These are widely used by many people to do their cardio exercise before or after training.

It involves walking in a very fluid manner , as the machine directs the movement. The intensity can be varied , so that each person can adapt the exercise to their personal conditions.

Power walking

If walking rather than running is more your thing, you can walk at a fast pace, with your abdomen engaged, arms moving and the toes slightly raised. This is called 'power walking', designed especially for older people and as a warm-up for another exercise.
