The main component of our body: Proteins

Proteins form the basic structure of the cell, and therefore, the tissues, in addition to developing many other functions such as catalysts for metabolic reactions or carriers.

Proteins, what are they?

Proteins are macromolecules formed by the union of amino acids through peptide bonds.

They form the basic structure of the cell, and therefore, the tissues, in addition to developing many other functions such as catalysts for metabolic reactions or transporters.

There are 20 amino acids and we can classify them into:

  • essentials. These amino acids are the ones that our body cannot manufacture, therefore, they are ingested through food.

  • Non-essentials . Our body can produce the amino acid.

When a food contains all the essential amino acids, we say that it is a food rich in proteins of high biological value.

Proteins can also be classified based on their origin.

Proteins can be of animal origin such as meat, fish, eggs or dairy; or of vegetable origin such as legumes such as soybeans and their derivatives or chickpeas; seeds like chia or flax; or some pseudocereals such as quinoa or millet.

essential functions of proteins

  • They promote contraction and muscle movement.

  • Antibodies support immune function.

  • They support the regulation and expression of DNA and RNA.

  • Digestive enzymes facilitate chemical reactions.

  • They transport essential molecules throughout the body.

  • Hormones help coordinate bodily functions.
protein powder

Protein supplementation is indicated in athletes who with food do not reach their minimum protein requirements. That is the best known but really, protein powder is pure protein, anyone could consume it and include it in our snacks or breakfasts as one more option.

whey protein

Whey protein powder is made from hydrolyzed whey.

At Madequa we offer you this Go Primal option which contains 25.5g of pure protein for every 30g, which is 1 scoop.

You can take it as a post-workout shake with a vegetable drink, milk or water or even add it to yogurt, make a dessert with it like pancakes for breakfast or a cake for snack.

vegan protein

Go Primal Vegan Protein is made from pea and rice protein. It is an ideal alternative for both vegans and lactose intolerant people or digestive problems, since there are times when consuming whey protein in excess does not feel good, due to its high lactose content it can cost more to digest. Here we present an ideal alternative.

You can take it as a post-workout shake with a vegetable drink or water or even add it to vegetable yogurt, make a dessert with it such as pancakes for breakfast or a cake for snack.
