Almost all of us have a technique that we repeat mechanically since always, but we don't bother to find out if the origin of our discomfort with our hair lies precisely in the way we wash it. How important can something so simple be? A lot. Washing your hair is very simple, yes, and doing it wrong is also very simple.

Scalp first!

It's very difficult to feel like your hair is super clean if your scalp isn't 100%. And it can only perform at its best if your skin is in perfect balance, free of traces of pollution and residue and well oxygenated. So once a week, before shampooing, gently exfoliate with a brush to stimulate blood circulation or, if you have an oily scalp, apply a purifying pre-shampoo mask to remove excess oil.

Lots of water and little shampoo

Soak your hair thoroughly with warm water before applying and, this is very important, a small amount of shampoo (about the size of a walnut) worked in with your fingertips and spread well throughout your hair.

If you're in the habit of adding a good splash of shampoo to the crown of your head, you already know why your hair ends up heavy and dull.

Use a shampoo that is suitable for your hair type, although those for frequent use are great because they have a very gentle formula that cleanses but does not add substances that weigh it down. The hair fiber is very fragile when it is wet, so work your hair gently (being in a hurry is no excuse to rub it with your nails as if you hate it) and then rinse with water without rushing: keep in mind that one of the reasons why you think your hair stays clean longer when you go to the hairdresser is because they use a lot of water and distribute it very well until they remove the last residue, the secret to leaving hair light, loose and flexible.

Should I apply the shampoo twice?

Although if you wash your hair very often you can apply the shampoo just once, experts recommend applying it twice, once as a cleansing gesture and the second as a massage. And the massage, according to the expert, should last about three minutes.

Water temperature is important

Hot water opens the cuticles of the hair fiber, perfect during washing so that the active ingredients penetrate and act. Once the hair has been completely rinsed, it is always advisable to finish with cold water to close the cuticles, seal them, and give the hair a spectacular shine.

Water temperature doesn't just affect the health of your cuticles or the shine of your hair. Hot water is especially "off-limits" for blonde hair, as hot water can strip blonde hair of its natural oils and make it look dull.

The conditioner

There is no perfect wash without conditioner: it closes the cuticle, helps detangle and provides that wonderful feeling of lightness .

Choose the one that best suits your hair type, but, once again, use very little and only on the middle and lengths, never on the scalp .
